Colombia Pet Import Requirements
Official veterinary regulations, microchip standards, rabies rules, and breed restrictions for entering Colombia.
1. Microchip & Identification
Microchipping is mandatory in Colombia for pets less than one year old and Highly Recommended For pets over one year old.
2. Rabies Vaccination
- Vaccination Requirement: Cats and dogs must be vaccinated against rabies.
- Timing: The vaccination must be administered at least 21 days before entering Colombia.
- Validity: A 1 or 3-year rabies vaccination is accepted as long as it is still valid and administered at least 21 days prior to entry.
3. Titre Tests & Bloodwork
Blood titer test is not required.
4. Quarantine Requirements
Pet dogs and cats that do not meet the requirements for importation must comply with home quarantine period that includes two follow-up visits by an officer of ICA and must pay the value of monitoring quarantine.

5. Breed Restrictions
The importation of the following breeds or their hybrids is prohibited because they are considered dangerous:

Pets can enter in cabin, as baggage, or in cargo
The authorities work from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from M-F and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 11:00 am for departure of pets and for cargo processes.
It is not advisable to send pets as cargo on weekends since there are no offices open to carry out processes and they would have to remain at the airport all weekend.
