Costa Rica Pet Import Requirements
Official veterinary regulations, microchip standards, rabies rules, and breed restrictions for entering Costa Rica.
1. Microchip & Identification
Not required but is recommended.
2. Rabies Vaccination
Vaccinations must be at least 14 days prior to the date of travel. Costa Rica requires a valid rabies vaccine. No waiting period to enter. 3 year vaccines are accepted.
3. Titre Tests & Bloodwork
Not for dogs and cats, other animals like ferrets and rabbits require lab test.
4. Quarantine Requirements
Not for dogs and cats. Rabbits and other pet animals require quarantine in origin before coming to Costa Rica.
Birds and Horses will do home quarantine upon arrival.
5. Breed Restrictions
