Egypt Pet Import Requirements

Official veterinary regulations, microchip standards, rabies rules, and breed restrictions for entering Egypt.

1. Microchip & Identification

Pets must be microchipped. Should comply with an ISO standard 11784 or Annex A.

2. Rabies Vaccination

Giving at age 3 months and waiting period 21 days in case of puppy, adult should be not expired or given before the expiry date.

3. Titre Tests & Bloodwork

No rabies titre test required.

4. Quarantine Requirements

There is no quarantine requirements if all documents are in order.

 

5. Breed Restrictions

Not a published list of banned breeds.
Birds of any description may not be brought into Egypt.

The only problem with Cairo is the extensive customs clearance which can take up to 6 hours.

6. Customs & Import Rules

Cairo extensive customs clearance which takes up to 6 hours. They should arrive early mornings or evenings due to the extreme temperatures.

Pets must be accompanied by a valid Government VHC. Issued at point of origin. (Your VHC valid 14 days from the date of issue) quarantine in case of suspicion will be maximum 15 days. (Charges EGP 1.50 excl. food) (EGP – Egyptian Pound)

Pet birds of any description may not be brought into Egypt either as cabin baggage, hold baggage or cargo; except live chicks if they meet all health requirements and are imported from infected/endemic bird flu areas.

Egypt has no import tax on pets.
