Romania Pet Import Requirements

Official veterinary regulations, microchip standards, rabies rules, and breed restrictions for entering Romania.

1. Microchip & Identification

All dogs, cats and ferrets must be microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant 15 digit pet microchip.

2. Rabies Vaccination

All dogs, cats and ferrets must have valid vaccination against rabies which was administered after microchip was implanted.

3. Titre Tests & Bloodwork

Rabies Titer (FAVN) test required if entering from a High rabies country. Titer test can only be administered after a minimum waiting time of 30 days after the primary/booster rabies vaccination, in an EU approved laboratory.
If test results are acceptable (at least or equal to 0,5 IU/ml), 3 calendar months of waiting time applies from the date of the blood sample was taken.

4. Quarantine Requirements

No quarantine for cats or dogs.
Quarantine is required for birds (no approved facilities for the moment). The facilities exist at BIP OTP but still not approved.

5. Breed Restrictions

From other EU member countries:

Valid veterinary health certificate and up to date vaccination book/EU pet passport/proof of vaccination must accompany the animal (+rabies Titer test if required).
