Czechia Pet Import Requirements

1. Microchip & Identification

Microchip required
Only transponders (microchips) complying with the ISO standards for microchips and reading devices – ISO 11784 and ISO 11785 can be used for the identification.
When dogs, cats or ferrets are identified using tattoos and the tattoos are clearly readable and were demonstrably done before 3rd July 2011, it is not necessary to implant transponders.
Animals must be identified prior to the anti-rabies vaccination!
 

2. Rabies Vaccination

Required, from the age 12 weeks, valid 21 days after the vaccination for the primary vaccination.
Vaccination against rabies shall be considered valid from the date of re-vaccination where the vaccine is administered within the period of validity indicated by the manufacturer of a previous vaccination. However, such re-vaccination shall be considered as a primary vaccination in the absence of the animal health certificate attesting the previous vaccination.

3. Titre Tests & Bloodwork

Serological examination of the level of antibodies against rabies when entering Czech Republic are the same considering for the EU. The test needs to be performed at least 90 days before travel date.

Dogs, cats and ferrets from Russia and Belarus will have to have the rabies blood test sine 26 April 2024

6. Customs & Import Rules

For non-commercial move, there are no import taxes

 For commercial move, 21% from the value of pet and transport will be added

 Pet can enter in cabin, as baggage or as cargo

 Customs are open 24 hours but for cargo, the arrival before 6 p.m. is recommended ( handling agents are closing at 7 p.m.)

 Weekend is possible if advance arrangement is made

 There is a veterinary station / pet hotel in Prague so the animal can stay there
